We conduct programs and activities designed to provide our customers, internal and external, with the ability to prepare for, cope with, and recover from the effects of disasters.

Preparedness Tips

Know the difference:

A severe thunderstorm watch is issued when a severe thunderstorm could form, and a severe thunderstorm warning is issued when a severe thunderstorm has been sighted or indicated by weather radar.

Staying Cool Under Pressure

When tempuratures start to rise its best to avoid prolonged times outdoors, especially in the heat of the day (about 3-5pm) and make sure to stay hydrated.

Flood Safety: Prepare for the Unexpected

In highly flood-prone areas, keep materials on hand like sandbags, plywood, plastic sheeting, plastic garbage bags, lumber, shovels, work boots and gloves. Keep an adequate supply of drinking water, non perishable food and a first aid kit

When Lightning Strikes!

The greatest danger of a lightning strike is near the end of a thunderstorm, not during the most intense part. Go indoors as soon as you see lightning or hear thunder and don't go back outside until 30 mins after the storm has passed.
