2. Create A Disaster Plan

3. Prepare Yourself And Your Family

  • Post emgergency phone numbers by phones
  • Teach family members how and when to call 9-1-1, or your local Emergency Medical Services number, for help
  • Show family members how and when to turn off water, gas, and electricity at the main switches
  • Check if you have adequate insurance coverage
  • Get training:
    • Join a CERT- Community Emergency Response Team
    • Take clases with the Red Cross (CPR)
    • Get training from the Fire Department (fire extinguisher use)
  • Assemble a Disaster Supply Kit
  • Locate the safe places in your home for each type of disaster
